Parenting Therapy

Parenting is one of the most important and challenging tasks people undertake, that usually brings out a range of powerful and intense emotions. Feelings of happiness and pride can easily turn to frustration, anger, dislike, or guilt. Children exhibiting ‘big feelings’ is a normal part of early childhood development and usually the only way a young child can communicate their needs and wants. Although emotional and behavioural outbursts are common within children, they are often a source of significant stress and frustration for parents. Parents managing feelings that lead to frustration is challenging, but a very important component of successful, emotionally safe parenting and raising resilient children.

Obtaining support and developing additional parental skills can help parents enjoy family and parenting more and develop a more relaxed, happy, and safe homelife for your child and family. If you feel as though you or your children are suffering, or require assistance, in any area of functioning please obtain support as soon as possible.

We assist parents with strategies and tools for their child’s specific parental, educational and developmental needs and assist with parent child attachment or relationship issues if needed. Sometimes parents just need one or two sessions to talk through strategies to help with adjusting to change or emotional reactivity.

Our team of therapists will collaborate with you to develop the tools to cope with stressful parent-child interactions, to learn how to better understand and anticipate your child’s behaviour, to learn how recognise and attend to underlying stressors and develop positive relationships.
