Assessments

The underlying cause of a person’s difficulties are not always clear. For example, if a child is having trouble in school, does he or she have a reading problem such as dyslexia, an attention problem such as attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), or difficulty with impulse control? Psychological tests and assessments allow a Psychologist to understand the nature of the problem, to assist with diagnosis if appropriate and to guide treatment. If a person is having problems at work or school, or in personal relationships, tests can help a Psychologist understand whether he or she is having issues with anger management, interpersonal skills, impulse control, certain personality traits or anxiety and depression and then plan the best strategies to guide effective treatment.

Please speak to your Psychologist or make an initial appointment to discuss if an assessment may be of benefit to you and what assessments they may be.

For children, Psychologists administer tests and assessments for a variety of reasons including:

  1. Behavioural problems
  2. Cognitive assessment
  3. Autism Spectrum Disorders
  4. Social-Emotional Functioning
  5. Learning difficulties
